Bangalore April 10: Railway ADGP Bhaskar Rao today underlined the importance of instilling confidence in students and young people to face the challenges of life.
“Every day at least five of six people commit suicide on railway tracks in the state. Most of them are between the ages of 14 and 30. This is most regrettable because this is the age when they can achieve the most, yet they resort to suicide”, Rao said on Saturday while felicitating the students of Surarana college.
The students of Surana college bagged the most ranks for the academic year 2020 and were honoured by the University of Bangalore.
“The role of the guru is very important to guide the students to achieve and develop life skills. Success is the reward of constant effort. Success has often come after years of hard work and constant efforts. At a young age, it is not okay to make rash decisions like committing suicide. This is the age of great accomplishment. There are numerous ups and downs in life and reasons for stress. A guru’s guidance is essential to combat them effectively and succeed in life,” Rao said.
He said that in today’s world there is no need for gurus to impart knowledge, but there is a need for gurus to teach the lessons of life which are far greater than what is in a textbook. He called upon students not only to score high marks in college but also to excel in other areas of life.
Mr Dilip Surana, CMD of Micro Labs Limited, Archana Surana, Managing Trustee of Surana Educational Trust. Dr Bhavani MR the Principal, were present on the occasion.
